Our client, NorthWestern Roads Management Services Company Pty Ltd (NWR), is the owner and operator of the Westlink M7 and NorthConnex motorways. They are currently seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced control systems professional to efficiently and effectively manage all control systems assets.

As a Control Systems Manager you will take a holistic approach to the management of all control systems whilst striving to achieve the best outcomes possible for all stakeholders both internally and externally.  You will be passionate about systems and as such be the subject matter expert on the various systems architectures utilised across the assets.

The ideal candidate will possess OMCSPMCS and ITS experience across roads and tunnelling infrastructure with the ability to conceptualise the establishment of holistic frameworks and strategy. Applicants with management experience across a diverse range of control systems technologies from a systems integration background with exposure to ports, airports, water/wastewater and mining are also encouraged to apply.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Be a subject matter expert on the various systems being utilised by NWR and constantly look to improve those systems by searching for innovations within the OMCS, PMCS and ITS markets.
  • Managing contractor and third-party relationships to ensure all works are completed in line with NWR’s performance standards.
  • Proactive management and optimisation of the lifecycle of control systems assets including planning for obsolescence and future proofing existing assets.
  • Value-adding to systems design and use best practise to ensure the most favourable outcome is achieved for all stakeholders.
  • Driving agreed strategy and policy across all stakeholders both internal and external.

Experience required:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in design, implementation, commissioning and troubleshooting of control systems with exposure to IT and computer/systems networking.
  • Tertiary qualifications in electrical, control systems, chemical or systems engineering.
  • Previous experience as a technical manager, lead engineer or project manager in a complex multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to engage and influence all levels of stakeholders both technical and non-technical.
